STEP 1

Start off by steaming the milk, using our guide – How To Froth Milk with a Steam Wand.

Aerate milk 1–3 seconds for a latte. Aerating the milk simply means adding air into the milk, which gives you a dense,  velvety smooth final froth.

STEP 2

First pour high - freely pour the milk into your freshly brewed espresso in a slow, steady stream above the centre of the mug until it’s two-thirds full, then stop.

Move the pitcher in a gentle circle to combine the milk and coffee. Tilting the mug forward will also help the milk and coffee combine properly.

STEP 3

Then pour low – tilt the mug toward the pitcher, keeping the spout of the pitcher close to the surface, and slowly stream in the foam with a gentle wiggle to create your first dot.

As the foam pours, slowly tilt the mug back to centre.

STEP 4

As the milk reaches the top of the mug, lower the mug slightly to create a thin stream pouring from the pitcher, and pour the last bit of foam across the centre of the mug.

This might take some practise, but the key is confidence and patience. In no time, you'll be making Foam Hearts with no effort at all.

STEP 5

Admire your love-filled Starbucks® coffee and enjoy it your way.
