STEP 2

Add the coarse ground coffee

Use 2 tbsp (10 g) of grounds for every cup (180 ml, 6 fl oz) of water. Add the ground coffee to the empty coffee press.

For this brewing method, use a coarse grind to produce a rich flavour without bitterness.

STEP 3

Pour water to just below the rim

For the best brew, use water that's 30 seconds off the boil.

Water temperature affects how efficiently coffee flavours are pulled from the grounds. The ideal temperature for brewing with a coffee press should be between 90–96°C (195–205°F).

QUICK TIPS

Brewing with a coffee press is also called full-immersion brewing, as the grounds are immersed for the entire brew.

Make sure to clean the grounds stuck in the filter after every use. This will help your next coffee taste as good as the one before it.
