Coffee capsules made using 80% recycled Aluminium

Discover how Starbucks® is committed to ethical sourcing and how to easily recycle your Starbucks® by Nespresso® aluminium capsules.

What are Starbucks® by Nespresso® pods made of?

Starbucks® by Nespresso® capsules are made of aluminium.

80% of the aluminium in our capsules is recycled aluminium. The benefit of using recycled aluminium is linked to the amount of energy saved in the production of the aluminium, so it is well-suited to use in a circular business model.

The recycled aluminium comes from a variety of sources including post-consumer scrap as well as scrap recovered during production processes. By using 80% recycled aluminium, we demonstrate the recyclability of aluminium and want to engage our consumers to recycle their Starbucks® by Nespresso® capsules.

Another benefit of using aluminium for our capsules is that aluminium itself is infinitely recyclable. When you recycle your Starbucks® by Nespresso® capsules, you help decrease the carbon footprint of your cup of coffee.

A customer can use any bag of their own to collect the capsules.

Fill your recycling bag with used Starbucks® capsules (approximately 150 capsules per bag).

Drop off your recycling bag at your nearest Nespresso® boutique. There's no need for any labelling. Find your nearest boutique here.

Take it to one of 7,000 CollectPlus locations. You will need a label to return your recycling bag with CollectPlus, which can be printed at home or in any CollectPlus store at no cost. You can download a free label and learn more on how to return your recycling bag via CollectPlus here.
