How To Froth Milk with a Steam Wand 1
STEP 1

Start off by steaming the milk, using our guide – How To Froth Milk with a Steam Wand

Aerate milk 1–3 seconds for a latte. Aerating the milk simply means adding air into the milk, which gives you a dense,  velvety smooth final froth.

STEP 2

Freely pour the milk into your freshly brewed espresso in a slow, steady stream above the centre of the mug until it’s about half-full, then stop.

Move the pitcher in a gentle circle to combine the milk and coffee.

STEP 3

Bring the pitcher down toward the mug, and tilt the mug toward the pitcher, keeping the spout as close to the surface as possible.

Gently stream in the foam with a gentle wiggle to create your first dot, and tilt the pitcher away to cleanly break the stream of milk.

STEP 4

Repeat the motion from the previous step 3 times.

Each time, you’ll pour another dot, pushing the new layer into the first. Gently tilt the mug back to centre as you’re repeating the steps.

STEP 5

As you pour your last dot and the milk reaches the top of the cup, tilt the pitcher back to create a pencil-thin stream of milk.

Lower the mug slightly, and pour the last bit of foam across the centre of the mug, straight through the design, pulling the dot into a beautiful, stacked tulip.
